Benelli Lift

Description

A Benelli lift is an alternative to breast augmentation and full mastopexy (breast lift) for people interested in a less invasive, more moderate breast lift. Dr. Louis Benelli popularized this mastopexy procedure and is used for women with moderate ptosis (sagging breasts) by removing excess skin and providing better shape to the breast. Two incisions are made around the areola (circular patch of pigmented skin around the nipple) and skin is removed. Candidates interested in Benelli lifts aren't looking to enlarge the breasts, but to simply reshape them.

Procedure Length

Benelli lifts take around one to three hours.

Side Effects

Temporary bruising, swelling, discoloration, and discomfort

Recovery

You may return to work in about one week and strenuous activities in a month. Working out should be avoided during this month of recovery. Scars may take around a year to fully heal.

Risks

Infection, loss in sensitivity, long recovery, and dissatisfaction in results. Choose your surgeon carefully.

Results

Results are long lasting. A breast lift isn't permanent because of the aging process, but may last many years.

Patient Status

Outpatient. Usually performed in doctor's office or hospital.

Anesthesia

Local with sedation or general if requested.
