Procedure Length:
Hair transplantation can take several hours and many visits for up to two years depending on severity of baldness.
Side Effects:
Usually temporary numbness, bruising, redness, and swelling. Side effects should subside within a couple weeks with proper care.
Recovery:
Medications, both oral and topical are given to assist with proper healing. The transplanted hair should fall out within six weeks but re-growth is expected after three months.
Risks:
There are some risks and complications associated, including infection, scarring, numbness and skin discoloration.
Results:
Usually results are permanent. Though, routine visits may be required to make sure proper treatments.
Patient Status:
Outpatient. Usually in doctor’s office or a hospital.
Anesthesia:
Mostly local, although general is administered when required.
