Lip Augmentation
Description:
Lip augmentation is the enlargement of the lips through many facial fillers including human based collagen, bovine based collagen (derived from cows including ArteFill® and Zyderm), Hyaluronic Acid- derived solutions (including Restylane® and Juvederm®), and fat transfers. Results depend on the solution used. With many different types of fillers available for lip augmentation, it’s important to know which solution is right for you.
Procedure Length:
Usually fifteen to thirty minutes.
Side Effects:
Side effects are minimal. You may experience swelling and momentary bleeding. These symptoms should subside within a few days.
Recovery:
Recovery is immediate. You should be able to return to work and normal activities within twenty four hours.
Risks:
Risks include infection, lumping, scarring, numbness, cold sores, allergic reactions and asymmetrical lips.
Results:
Depending on the material used, the fillers may last from nine weeks (such as Restylane®) to permanent corrections (such as ArteFill®).
