Description

Tummy tuck procedures are some of the most popular cosmetic surgeries performed today. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, treats people with loose skin, stretch marks, and skin deposits in the abdominal region.
A Full tummy tuck procedure typically require two incisions. The surgeon will make an incision just above the pubic area that spans from one hip bone to the other. The other incision is often made around the navel. A less invasive procedure may be considered with a mini tummy tuck.

Depending on the amount of tissue taken out, tummy tucks may take between two to five hours.

Side Effects

Sid effects of tummy tucks may include pain, discomfort, swelling, bruising, and reduced mobility for the first few weeks.

Recovery

After the procedure, the patient will wear a girdle like compression unit to reduce swelling and assist the healing process. This may be worn for several weeks. Non dissolvable Stitches are removed after after about two weeks. Return to work in one to three weeks and full recovery may take six to eight weeks.

Risks

Bleeding, infection, permanent scarring, and blood clots are all potential risks of tummy tucks.

Results

Results are usually long lasting but depend on diet, exercise, and patient's anatomy.
